About the Owner and Manager
Hello, I’m Brad.
What I’m not; I’m not a professional pundit. I’m not a talking head partisan. I’m not a ‘hater’. I know it might seem like I’m glum, dark, geek that’s just angry at everyone… I’m not.
I am a Man. I am a sovereign individual. I am a Christian. I am a husband and a fathers and take great joy in watching my children grow from infants to teens to young adults (even if I don’t like it all the time)… and then I get the joy of watch my wife and how our marriage has changed from the time our kids were infants…
I do have a day job. I’m what’s known as a mud engineer, aka mud doctor, in the oil field. I work out there on the rigs were dig holes miles deep into the Earth. After we get that 8-9 inch hole dug several miles down, then we turn the hole and dig sideways a mile or more sometimes. We swing hundreds of thousands of pound of steel and iron, pump mud (my job) at thousands of pounds per square inch, and we do it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We never stop for weekends, for Christmas, for Thanksgiving. We don’t stop for birthdays, or is it’s too cold or too hot, if it’s raining or the wind blows, and the wind blows a lot out here in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. Then, once we get to the oil or natural gas, (which is pretty flammable) we have to drill through where it’s at without it burning the rig to the ground (another part of my job).
So, my day job is pretty technical, but I get to do it in the field where the work actually is, as opposed to sitting in a lab somewhere doing the same thing. I get my hands dirty. The ‘mud’ that I work with isn’t the kind of mud you’d find your kids playing with in the back yard, and unfortunately I don’t get to do it in my back yard. They have a way of drilling for oil and gas in some of the most inaccessible places. So, I get the benefit of seeing areas that are quite a way off of the well travelled roads, and some days the best part of the day is when you stop, look out across the vista and take in the beauty of the scenery.
So, I’d have to say that over all, I’m a very happy man, but I’m concerned about my nation. I’m concerned about the nation that I am leaving my children. Now, I don’t doubt that everyone wants to leave a better country to their children… whether you are liberal or conservative or politically agnostic. I’m just terribly affraid that we’re making decisions today that will strap our children with obligation… or worse yet cause divisions so deep in the country that they can never be repaired. That would mean that my kids might never know the freedoms that I knew as a kid. As it is, they’ll never know the freedoms that my grandparents knew…
So, that’s why I’m here. That’s why I write. As long as someone keeps reading… I’ll keep writing. I just hope to God that someone gets something from all this stuff I write…
